Their names are revealing. Against India's Agni (Fire), Nag (Snake) and Trishul (Trident), Pakistan offers the Hatf, named after the lance of the Prophet Muhammad that, according to legend, never missed its target ... [The Ghauri] is named after the Muslim invader Sultan Mohammed Shahabuddin Ghauri: in 1192 he defeated the Rajput Hindu King Prithvi Raj Chauhan in a decisive battle near to where the India-Pakistan border now runs, clearing his way to Delhi.
