'Bad Santa'

Just saw Ajay Naidu play a crazed, homophobic, possibly closeted gay, short, shaved-headed bar-goer with a goatee and tight shirt who beats up on Billy Bob Thornton while BBT is wearing a Santa suit. With a really bad Indian accent, of course. Role is credited as 'Hindustani troublemaker' (does anybody use 'Hindustani' any more?) He created a memorable character, I guess, he's not afraid to ham it up, much like Kal Penn.

It was a very odd role. In a mainstream movie it would've been like the Fu Manchu role in old Hollywood movies, the dumb ethnic freak. But the rest of the movie is just as bleak and odd (featuring a black midget as a central character), so it's hard to say what they were getting at-- the Naidu angle left me scratching my head.

Didn't like the movie much, though the reviewers loved it. Felt repetitive and low idea density, and a hell of a downer. It's entropy, eventually everything degenerates into unimaginative swearing and drunken stupors. Although sardonic, it's not half as clever as the reviewers make it out to be.
